While we anxiously await the rebuilding of Steeple Market does anyone know where a propane tank ( for a home grill in this case ) can be re-filled.  I'd like to avoid a trade if I could since I'm so emotionally attached to my current container.

Aubuchon's in St. Albans across from the Highgate Shopping Center does it.  They have a sign out front and I got mine filled there about a month ago.  I think it was $13.99

I just sent Ray Bouffard a note, but if you need to know right away you can always call The Georgia Market at 527-1100

Thanks all ...   Henry - Love your site....

Here's what I have found:
  • Aubuchon's in St. Albans - Refill , flat rate of $13.99
  • Milton Rental  - Refill , flat rate of $12.99
  • Georgia Market - Exchange $23.??  ( only 'newer' tanks accepted for trades )

But yet, I have always have some sort of gas.

When we lived at the Beach there was a company that would come to your house and take empty tanks and leave full ones. I think a business like that would do well in this neck of the woods. Sure would beat driving all over Vermont to find gas.

I am sure when Pierre reopens Steeple Market, he will again have Propane Refilling - In these tough economic times, I sometimes have to forego the convenience for costs, especially on retirement income.

Hi All,

Got an answer back from Georgia Market - Ray's computer had a lightening strike to so took him a bit longer to answer:

Could not find the questions on the forum but to answer the propane filling question - we do not fill them .
We only exchange them ....$ 19.99  plus tax . The consumer gets a filled tank that has been tested and looks great! Most tanks that we see come in for exchange are covered with the " end results" of BBQing!

The Homestead Campgrounds fill tanks and being a neighboring business , I try to stay out of their "backyard".

They fill from April to late October - the key BBQ months .

Hope this answers you question - if not fire them back to me .

Am on our way to film a WCAX " Shop Vermont "  advertisement in a few minutes!

If you find yourself in the Georgia Market area , stop by and say hi .....we still have the best prices on milk in the area ....$2.59 for Booth 2% !

Thanks for the question.

Ray

The only problem with exchange tanks is you don't get a full tank there is 2 gallons less in the exchange tanks.  There was a story done on the on Channel 3 about a 1 1/2 weeks ago.    Adam's quick stop wasn't mentioned and I believe they are an exchange station.
