Fairfax Emergency Management Coordinator Steve Bessette, shown below, was on standby at The Fairfax Fire Station since 911 was unavailable. Steve just gave me a call and said that 911 just came back up and Fairfax was able to call St. Albans.
Kristen Greenia from Fairfax Rescue was also on hand at The Fairfax Rescue Station, just in case a call came in. Now in the event that 911 is down, provided that Fairfax Fire & Rescue are aware of it, there should be somebody there to answer the non-emergency number and in turn radio the dispatcher in St. Albans. That non-emergency number for those on the 849 exchange is:
Only try using the following numbers for emergencies in case of a 911 failure
849-2773
524/527 exchange try using 524-2131.I tried having Maryann push her Medic Alert Button to see if that would work - It did work, but I think that the phones had just come back up to allow us to call outside of our own exchange, because as soon as the Medic Alert operator hung up, Steve Bessette called and told us that 911 was back up.
