What a fantastic weekend we just had and it looks like another like it coming up, only it won't be a long weekend.  We had a 25th Anniversary Party for our Oldest Daughter, organized and put on by our two youngest daughters.  They had a tent put up from McKrakens, since you can never rely on the weather and a large number of people came from Massachusetts.  If the weather had been something you could order, it could not have been any more perfect.  One retired couple took a round-about trip by Lake George, then up here on Sunday and they were enjoying in so much that they were going to look for a nice campground to stay at on their way back, rather than drive right straight through to Massachusetts.

According to Channel 3, all by 3 campgrounds in the state were filled to capacity and people are now getting into what they call, "Stayvacations."  They are vacations that are not far from home.  State Campgrounds found that 47% of their Campers were from right here in Vermont.  Much higher than normal.

I am sure many people were reluctant to get back to work, or get back to school, but hopefully we have another nice weekend coming up.  The lack of rain has helped just a bit with the growing of the grass.  I might just be able to extend my lawn mowing by two or three days this time.

Just about a month from now, we will be in our peak tourist season here in Vermont.  Will be interesting to see what our foliage looks like this year.  Lots of guesses, but probably be a good year to record what foliage is like in a wet year.

Truly interesting to look at the Lamoille River down here in Fairfax Village.  Even after all the rain, it has been a long time since I have seen the river so low.  You can see most of the rocks in the bottom.

Meanwhile, enjoy the good weather - Your evening hours are getting pretty short and I am sure that a number of our local people who spend their winters in the warm climate, are already planning their trip South.

I love this season so much that I always take a Fall Vacation instead of a Summer one.  All summer, everyone in my office has been going off on their vacations; but now the countdown has started for me and they can now all watch me go away for 2 weeks this October.

Last year I went to Maine, just because it was the only New England State I had never been to see.  This year, I'll just be day-tripping in Vermont.

Any suggestions on what is an absolutely definite Vermont day-trip for me to make?
