Mike & Dean, thanks for the polite ribbing! It is nice to feel the love.
I didn't even look at it when I put it on! The TV crew told me that they would be on site in 45 minutes so I jumped in the car with my 4 year old daughter and boogied to Stowe.
I do get involved in the dirty work when I am needed. This past spring I bid the demolition of a 95 ft tall concrete silo, a project that had never been attempted by our company. It was my role to devise the demolition strategy and attach the 1/2 inch cable at the 60 ft mark. Our equipment operator is not comfortable on ladders.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jZDPspc0AH8My role on the Stowe Job has been: estimator, public relations & to coordinate subcontractors. I really like to be involved in each step of the process, but since I am a stay at home dad, four out of five days during the week, I am not able to be active in each step on a project of this size. I concentrate on the things that I am the best at we delegate the rest to employees who skill better match the task. I use two way radios, cell phone and e mail when necessary to coordinate the activities with other members of our team.
Glad that you all have enjoyed the video.
