MAURICE D. LAWRENCE "TOBY"

MILTON - Maurice D. "Toby" Lawrence, 79, died early Friday morning, Sept. 11, 2009, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Maurice was born in South Hero on Sept. 12, 1930, the son of Frank and Lucy (Martin) Lawrence. On Aug. 10, 1953, he married Shirley Hunt in Milford, Conn. Toby proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was employed for many years by McEwing Fuels in Essex Junction as a Service Technician. He was a member of the United Church of Milton. Milton Seneca Lodge #40 F. & A.M., American Legion Post #58 and of the VFW Post #782. Mr. Lawrence is survived by his wife Shirley of Milton, and his sons and wives, Don and Wendy Lawrence and grandchildren Matthew and Daniel of Fairfax, and David and Melissa Lawrence and grandchildren Joshua and Ethan of Eden. Toby was predeceased by his siblings, Cliff, Arnold, Gerald, Warren, Rovena, Anna and Mary. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2009, at 10 a.m. in the Minor Funeral Home in Milton. Full military honors will be accorded Toby by members of the Vermont National Guard at the Vermont Veterans Cemetery in Randolph. Memorial contributions may be made to either the VNA, Hospice of the Champlain Valley, 1110 Prim Road, Colchester, VT 05446 or to the Milton Seneca Lodge #40 F. & A.M. c/o John Campbell Jr., 53 Valley View Drive, Milton, VT 05468. Visiting hours will be held on Monday, Sept. 14, 2009, from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Minor Funeral Home in Milton. Online condolences may be made to www.minorfh.com .
