Police say a suspected drunk driver escaped a fiery crash in Westford Tuesday night.

Essex Police and Vermont State Troopers arrested a 40-year-old man from Essex, Tuesday evening. Police were responding to multiple reports of an erratic driver, but after they located Bergman they say he took off, leading police on a chase into Westford.

Bergman reportedly lost control of his car and crashed on Chapin Road. He was pulled out just before the vehicle burst into flames.

Bergman is being treated at the hospital and will face multiple criminal charges. The crash is still under investigation.

I believe this is the automobile accident Fairfax also responded to.  I was fixing supper, so did not hear all the details.
