LORRAINE G. (MAILLOUX) HARGRAVES SHELBURNE/FAIRFAX

Lorraine Gladys (Mailloux) Hargraves, age 83, passed away peacefully in Shelburne Bay Senior Living Community in the late evening of Monday, Dec. 5, 2005, with her loving son, Robert G. Hargraves Jr. and daughter in-law Celine L. Hargraves by her side. She was born in Haverhill, Mass., on Sept. 19, 1922, the oldest of five children of the late Harold and Helen (Eithier) Mailloux. At the age of 16, Lorraine had to have a diseased kidney removed. She married Robert Glen Hargraves Sr. from Merrimac, Mass., on Aug. 20, 1942, and gave birth to her son, Robert G. Hargraves Jr., on Sept. 11, 1944. Through her life, Lorraine's love for others was demonstrated by her outgoing personality, which was enjoyed by all. Through the many trials in her life, Lorraine had trust and faith in the Lord and was thankful in everything; thus an inspiration to both family and friends. A talented artist, Lorraine also mastered many crafts. She relentlessly worked at her husband's side for the many years they owned and managed five businesses in North Hampton, N.H. After retirement, Lorraine and her husband Glenn enjoyed life between sunny Florida and their dream cottage on Mousam Lake in Maine. Lorraine, who was predeceased by her husband on Nov. 5, 1989, is and will be missed by many. Left behind are one son, Robert G. Hargraves Jr. and wife Céline of Fairfax; one brother, Gerald Mailloux of Haverhill; two sisters, Adele Goudreault of Haverhill and Pauline Mailloux of Plaistow, N.H.; two grandchildren, Shawn Hargraves of Knoxville, Tenn. and Marie Hargraves of Phoenix, Ariz.; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also predeceased by her brother, Robert Mailloux. There will be no visiting hours. A memorial service will be held in the Essex Alliance Church on Monday, Jan. 2, 2006, at 2 p.m. with Pastor Joe Moore officiating. Inurnment will be private and at the convenience of the family. Contributions may be made in Lorraine's memory to Fairfax Rescue Squad Inc., P.O. Box 228, Fairfax, Vt. 05454, or Visiting Nurse Association Home Care & Hospice Program, 1100 Prim Road, Colchester, Vt. 05446.
