Hi All,

In the early years, it is my understanding that Route 104 came down Hunt Street, past Larry & Carrie Parsons House and the Cain House down to the river.  At the edge of the Lamoille River was a Toll House and the only actual photo I have seen of it is clipped and enlarged from a photo we have at the Fairfax Historical Society taken in 1904.  It is not very clear and can only be seen from one angle as shown below:


This would be in what is now the rec park and if my memory serves me correctly, Mike Cain told me that there is a tree growing in the old cellar.

What a great picture!

The Recreation Park Map (look for the link at the Town WebSite) also notes the location of the Toll booth.
