A suicide attempt was thwarted Wednesday on the Exit 18 overpass in Georgia off Interstate 89.

Vermont State Police said that just before 6:30 p.m., reports came in that a woman was threatening to jump from the Route 7 overpass.

Police arrived and found the woman standing on the outside of the railing.  A passerby identified as Jeff Young was speaking with her.  (Police did not provide Young's address.)

Young was able to grab the woman, and state troopers ran to help pull her back over the railing and out of harm's way.  The woman went to the Northwestern Medical Center for treatment.
