Police are looking for a masked man who robbed a St. Albans bank Monday morning, state police said.

While details are still emerging, state police did confirm to WPTZ.com that they are looking for a man armed with a knife and wearing a mask.

The man apparently robbed a bank in St. Albans.

Police could not say which bank had been robbed, but did confirm that man was armed with a knife and fled on foot.

NewsChannel 5 has a crew on the way to the scene and will provide further information as it becomes available.

I just heard that it was the Chittenden that was robbed (the old VT Federal Bank building).  Same description was given for robber of the Richford bank that was robbed just this past Friday -- could be the same person?

In reference to a bank robbery at the Chittenden Bank in St. Albans

A lone male 5'6"-5'8" entered the Chittenden Bank on North Main Street in St. Albans at approximately 0946 hours. The suspect was wearing a gray hooded sweat shirt, dark pants and a ski mask. The suspect entered the bank brandishing knife demanding money which was turned over without incident.

The suspect fled on foot, last seen in the area of Brainerd Street.

A maroon vehicle, possibly older style Buick, 4 door with an off colored drivers side front fender was seen in the area at the time.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to contact the St. Albans City Police at 524-2166 or the Vermont State Police at 524-5993.

I was in St. Albans at 11:15 the state troopers were interviewing a bank teller outside they had the entrance blocked along with the street that goes up alongside  the bank.  When I went back through at 12:30 they were still there.  Glad to hear no one was hurt.
I had to go to Milton to make my deposit.
