While Buck Mountain tops off at around 1333 feet (or so) the peak of Buck Mountain is located within the town of Fletcher and not Fairfax.  The Fairfax town line reaches only about 912 feet on the Western slope of Buck Mountain.  The highest point of land ( 1034 feet ) I could find within the town of Fairfax boundaries is up the Northern slope of Oak Hill located in the South East corner of the town.  The peak of Oak Hill lies in the town of Westford.  The highest peak of land I could find in Fairfax is Buck Hill which is listed at 973 feet. Interestingly the Western peak of Buck Hill is higher than the Eastern Peak.  I've found that both peaks look taller than the other depending on your perspective.
