Hi Henry,

I thought I would let you  know that some evil dooer(s) went through my car last night while it was parked in my driveway on the Shaw Road in Fletcher.  The glove compartment and the compartment between the seats had been emptied.  As far as I can tell, they only got a cheap pair of sunglasses and my emergency Fiber One Bar.  I don't keep any valuables in the car, so the crooks must have been disappointed.  I had left the car unlocked.  They left my gym bag which was in the back of the car alone, so I suspect this was quickly done.  My husband's company truck was locked and our other truck was unlocked, but untouched to the best of my knowledge.

I reported this to the VT State Police and was told that there were alot of vehicle break-ins last night in our area.  A trooper is supposed to call me back for details.

So - I wanted to get the word out to folks.  Let's stay safe and be aware of our surroundings. I guess we should all keep an eye out for each other.

Take care and again I enjoy reading your website.  Thank you for providing it to our community.

The same individual just reported "I just learned from my neighbor that at least three other neighbors on the Shaw Road were also broken into last night.  It is just so disturbing.  I know it is happening all over.  I wish for the good old days when we didn't have to lock everything up and be suspicious of everyone!"

Chris Santee, any chance you can get a report from VSP on this??

If they're going to break into my car to take stuff, I guess I would rather NOT have them break a window to get the junk!
So I will leave my car unlocked and void of anything valuable. Of course, my car is old enough that it probably isn't appealing to this crowd of bandits who are likely breaking into newer vehicles.

Hi Henry,
I could not figure out how to post a "new" message....could you please post this for me.

I was at the Fletcher Store this evening and spoke with a young man who's car was also burglarized last night.  He said a bow and a knife was taken.  I forgot to ask him if it was locked, and I don't know where he lives.  I asked him if he reported it to the police, and he said "no".  I urged him to report it so the police have a sense of how widespread this is.  If anyone out there has been robbed, PLEASE report it.

Thanks,
sfc from Fletcher

Seems to be a lot more of this going on the last couple of weeks.  Jen and I had at least 2 people in our yard at 3am a few days ago.  They didn't make off with anything that I can tell but I think that could be because I'm a lite sleeper and woke up.  I wasn't thinking when I tore off out the door after them running barefoot there wasn't much of a chance to catch them.  No doubt someone sneaking around at 3am though is looking for trouble or they just have a death wish.  Hope they get caught soon

Me thinks if this keeps up (and knowing many people in the Fletcher/Fairfax area) that one the culprits may end up on the wrong end of a 12 guage!

When I woke up at 0130 this morning, the thought of dashing out the door barefoot after someone snooping around the yard was in my mind for some reason.
If I saw someone snooping around my place at that time of the morning, hopefully I would have enough alertness to grab our pump action. At a minimum, the first round (a blank) round would bark louder than our dog, and give them a good and proper scare.  I'm sure it would also wake the neighbors and alert them to the invasion.
