ERIC W. SAMAL CAMBRIDGE — Eric William Samal, 20 passed away following an automobile accident late Monday evening, Feb. 20, 2006 in Cambridge. Eric was born Feb. 15, 1986, in Morrisville, the son of William and Laurie (Hardt) Samal. Eric graduated from Lamoille Union High School Class of 2004. Eric was a snowboard instructor with “SSU“ at Smugglers Notch Resort. Eric had a special gift for working with children. He combined that gift with his passion for snowboarding by instilling that same passion in the children he taught. The respect he gained on the mountain transcended all that he did, including his other passion: Texas Hold 'Em. On the surface, Eric was a quiet individual, but once you scratched that surface, you came to appreciate his politeness, sensitivity, and wacky sense of humor. Anyone who knew Eric loved and cherished him. He will be deeply missed. We all love you Eric. He is survived by his father, William Samal of Belvidere; his mother, Laurie (Hardt) Samal of Johnson; a brother Christopher Samal of Belvidere; a sister Katherine Samal of Johnson; maternal grandmother Jane Hardt of New Hampshire; paternal grandmother Frances Samal of Connecticut; his aunts and uncles, Susan Hardt, Sarah Clarke, Serge Samal, Peter Samal, Bee Batch; greatuncle Michael Samal; greataunt Olga Goncharenko; and many cousins. He was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Albert Hardt; and his paternal grandfather William Samal, Sr. There will be no public visiting hours. A memorial service will be held at the Lamoille Union High School, Hyde Park, March 4, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Elizabeth Griffin officiating. Inurnment will be at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made in Eric's memory to Lamoille Union High School Eric Samal Scholarship Fund Attn: Linda St. Cyr 736 Vt. Route 15 West, Hyde Park, Vt. 05655. Those who wish may offer on line condolences by visiting http://www.awrichfuneralhome.com. Arrangements are by John D. Workman of the A. W. Rich Funeral Home, Fairfax Chapel 1176 Main Street Fairfax, Vt. 05454.
