JAMES E. ROGERS

ESSEX — James Edward Rogers died on Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2009 in Fletcher Alien Health Care.
He was born on May 30, 1944 in Massena, N.Y., the son of the late Edward Rogers and Virginia Tracy Rogers.

He is survived by his wife Joanne Strahler Rogers whom he married on Nov. 26, 1971 in Underhill; two sons, Christopher James and his wife Christine and their children Abigail and Brady of Fairfax and Patrick Rogers of Essex; three brothers, Wayne Rogers and his wife Nancy of Malone, N.Y., Donald Rogers and his wife Jan of Inverness, Fla., and Gerald Rogers of Orlando, Fla., as well as several nieces and nephews.

In 1949, the family moved to Plattsburgh, N.Y. where he attended school, graduating from Plattsburgh High School in 1962. He attended the University of Vermont, graduating in 1966. He was employed by the Department of Defense in Fort Meade, Md. for two years. He returned to Vermont in 1968 where he worked for IBM for 31 years, retiring in 1999.

In retirement, he spent much time researching both his and Joanne's family history and was an accomplished genealogist. Along with Joanne he watched his grandchildren which they both greatly enjoyed until they entered school.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, Jan. 3, 2010 at 3 p.m. in the Ready Funeral Home Mountain View Chapel, 68 Pinecrest Dr,. Essex Junction. Burial will be in the spring. Visiting hours will be on Sunday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service.
