These guys were out all weekend starting Friday including in the wee hours this morning clearing the roads for the school buses. They do a great job keeping the roads clean. I know we all appreciate what they do, but probably don't think to tell them as often as we should. Thanks for all the long hours you put in guys and for being there when Fairfax Rescue needs you too!

I will agree, ALL THE WAY, we have a GREAT road crew, one that we should be proud of. As you can tell they are proud of the work they do and the town the work for.

I can never say it enough THANK YOU to the town Road crew for all that you do.

Yes, we should all be very appreciative of the work the road crew does for our community to keep the roads safe and open.  They are outstanding!

I have lived here in Fairfax since 1953 and commuted to Burlington & Essex Junction daily until 1992.  Never missed a days work because I couldn't get down through.  Only had one problem in all those years and that was one time when the grader was used to push back the heavy wet snow to widen the roads.  The then Road Commissioner put a big bank across my driveway when I lived down at 80 Fletcher Road.  I was working second shift, I believe at that time and got home about midnight or so to a big frozen bank of ice across my driveway.  I went to the house and got my round pointed shovel, hoping to shovel enough to get through, but to no avail.  It was solid ice by the time I got home.  I drove my car down to my in-laws in the village and walked back home as I could not leave my car in the road.  I believe that Dick LeClair was plowing my driveway back then and he could not budge the bank of ice.  I called the Road Commissioner, but he was downright rude, so ended up calling a member of the selectboard, explained my plight and he intervened and had the grader come up and move it so I could get in my driveway.

Don Pigeon plows by my house and I certainly have to commend him on how cautious he is not to plug me up when he goes by with the plow.  As expressed in the previous posts, we have a great group on our Road Crew and I know my problem back in the 1960s would not have happened had these guys been on the Road Crew then.

They just don't stop!!  I went by the town garage on my way to work at 5:25am - they were there loading up.  I came home today at 6:00 pm - they were there loading up again.  Has Don installed beds and showers?  Can't thank them enough!!!!  They do like cookies and brownies though. :)
