Vermont State Trooper From Fairfax Uninjured In I-89 Crash

Trooper Baker unhurt in Interstate-89 wreck

RICHMOND — A Vermont State Police trooper from Fairfax was not injured during a two-car crash on Interstate 89 here last weekend.

At 3 p.m. Sunday, Tpr. Angela Baker, 34, a former employee of the state health office in St. Albans City, was providing assistance to Tpr. Ashley Barnes, who was dealing with several vehicles that had slid off snow-covered 1-89, in Richmond.

Baker, according to her own press release, had parked in the left-hand lane of the interstate, with her blue lights activated, to move traffic to the right-hand lane and alert them to a collision ahead.

Joseph Dawson, 46, of Burlington, was traveling north in his 1998 GMC truck and failed to slow down as he approached the scene and merged with traffic, the troopers said.

Dawson struck the rear end of Baker's police cruiser, causing extensive damage to the back and front driver's side. The cruiser was totaled.

Baker was in her cruiser when Dawson hit it but did not sustain any injuries. She and Dawson were wearing their safety belts.

Dawson was also uninjured.

Richmond and Bolton fire departments responded to the scene, as well as workers from University of Vermont Rescue.

The collision occurred during the record-breaking snowstorm that blasted parts of Vermont over the weekend.

 Henry   I believe that Trooper Baker is the former Angie Senesac who attended BFA, along with her siblings, in the 80's and 90's
and was a strong participant in the school's activities and academic classes. In addition, she served on the BFA School Board during this last decade.
I'm sure that she is as conscientious in her job now as she was in her younger years , and I'm thrilled that she wasn't injured. Moreover, unless she has been changed by the scope of her assignments with the State Police, she will carry out her tasks in this job with fairness and with the courage of conviction as she has always done.
Another example of a Fairfax person, of whom there are many to speak of, helping their community, whether on the national, state or local level.  Again, glad she's ok.
