Hi Henry,
I saw this small barred owl today on the Pilon Rd.
He was not very interested in watching me, so I didn't get very good pictures.
 They appear in the daytime when there is a lot of snow cover, to hunt for food. Their prey tunnels in the snow, so they need daytime hours for hunting as well as nighttime.

Nice photos of an illusive bird. I saw an owl recently also, (somewhere on north 104), but can't recall  exactly where it was.

There is something arresting about seeing an owl--must be that old wives tale about hearing an owl hoot three times or something...

They do have an evil look for such a majestic animal.
