Yesterday afternoon, my sister "T" went down to get her mail.  My daughter saw her and watched her go back up the driveway until she got to where the house blocked her view.  Apparently as she was walking across the lawn toward her house, she tripped and fell.  She made it into the house and called her niece "Jen" who brought her down to The Fanny Allen Immediate Care where she volunteers in the gift shop.  We found out after the x-rays that her arm is broken in 4 places just below the shoulder.  They gave her a mild pain medication and put her arm in a sling.  She will be calling a surgeon and hopefully will get an appointment soon.

I was thinking after this happened, thank God it wasn't 20 below zero and she was able to get up and get to the house.  I personally never go out the door without my cell phone to get the mail or bring out the trash and whenever I leave I always have it with me, just in case something like that should happen.

"T" has been very independent and is 4 years younger than I am, but it is her right arm that is broken, so I expect it will be a while before she can drive her car - It will be tough for her, not doing what she wants, when she wants to -

Not sure she will be that happy about my mentioning this here, but in case you miss seeing her at daily Mass or the little PT Cruiser going up and down the Fletcher Road, that is the reason why.

This same thing happened to my sister who was just 49 years old.  She fell getting her mail and had to crawl up her drive way and drive herself to the ER.  She lives in a neighborhood but lives alone and never thought to call 911.  You just never know.  She had many months of PT and had to have family over to help her wash her hair and blow it dry.  Just the little things make a huge difference.  Hope your sister heals well.

I have just gone up to see "T" and she has just come back from the Emergency Room in St. Albans as she was in quite a bit of pain.  They have changed her pain medication and they are attempting to contact a surgeon.  With the arm broken in 4 places, I would suspect it will require some surgery.  Jen told me that they expect a call before the end of the day - The sooner the better as far as I am concerned.

She has been admitted to the hospital - Thank God - I will be going out later tonight - Not sure if they will be doing surgery today or tomorrow.

Please keep Tee in your prayers as Dr. Beattie tries to repair the broken bones this morning.  Osteoporosis has left her with very brittle bones.  I met him last night and understand he is an excellent surgeon.  Jen & Mary Kay will be out there and I will go out after Maryann's lunch.

I hope she feels better, Henry.  I saw Jen this morning at Mass.  Poor thing- what a week she's had.  My prayers are with her.
