More Weight Could Mean More Years For Seniors
Researchers in Australia say seniors with a few pounds to lose should hold on to that extra weight.
They followed more than 9,000 seniors between 70 and 75 for ten years and found those who were slightly overweight were 13 percent less likely to die than seniors considered "normal weight." The study authors aren't sure why, but a theory is that the extra weight acted like nutritional reserves in older people.
The study also found though that being sedentary increased mortality in both men and women.
