ELAINE SWEATT'S MOTHER PASSES AWAY

FERNANDE (FERN) J. LEDUC

SWANTON – Fern Leduc, loving mother, wife and caring friend to many, successfully completed her mission in life and passed into the portals of heaven into the arms of her Savior. She “fought the good fight, finished the race and kept the faith.” Fern died peacefully at home on March 21, 2006, surrounded by her family, following a battle with cancer.

Fern was born in St. Albans on Nov. 21, 1928. She was the youngest daughter of the late Alma (Chevalier) and Oliva Lanoue. She has two siblings: her sister, Giselle (Lucille) Tatro of Southwick, Mass. and brother, Paul Lanoue of Morfelden, Germany. Additionally she had four half-siblings, who have gone on before her: Germaine Bilodeau, Beatrice Fountaine, Maurice Lanoue, all of St. Albans, and Father John Lanoue of St. Michael’s College.

She leaves behind Andrew, her husband of 57 years. Together they raised a family of four children. The surviving family members are Elaine Sweatt and her husband, Wendel, who reside in Fairfax, Vt., George Leduc and wife, Cindy of Loudon, N.H., Kathy Warble and husband, Ron of Oviedo, Fla., and Sally LeDuc and her spouse, Jay Brown, of Reno, Nev. Her legacy also includes nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
In 1996, Mrs. Leduc retired from Vermont Associates, a division of the National Council on Aging, following 12 years of service. She was employed as the state’s payroll manager. Prior to this she worked for many years at Jack Rixon’s Pharmacy.

Perhaps Fern’s greatest joy was her association and fellowship with Church of the Rock in St. Albans, where she was one of the charter members.

A memorial service will be held in her honor on Saturday, March 25, 2006, at 12 p.m. at Church of the Rock on Route 104 in St. Albans. All are welcome to join the family for the memorial service and lunch reception at the church, which will follow.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home and Commemorative Services.

Memorial donations may be made to the Hospice Association of Franklin County or to Church of the Rock in Fern’s honor.
