NANCY BROWN PASSES AWAY

NANCY JEAN CONE BROWN DADE CITY, Fla./ST. ALBANS — Nancy Jean Cone Brown, age 68, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 26, 2006, in Hernando-Pasco Regional Hospice Center following a brief illness. She was born in Randolph, on Oct. 21, 1937, to Bernard and Geneva (Lemery) Cone, as the oldest of three children. Nancy attended schools in Randolph and Hartland, and Claremont, N.H., graduating from Stevens High in 1955, and Gifford Memorial Hospital Nursing Program in 1958. During her career, she was employed in both the Operating and Emergency Rooms at South County Hospital in Wakefield, R.I.; in Vermont on the MedicalSurgical Floors at the Mary Fletcher Hospital in Burlington, and by Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans as a bedside nurse, Supervisor, inservice educator, infection control and risk management coordinator and finally as a Patient Care Coordinator. Nancy retired in 2000, but her services were utilized by the hospital for several years in many areas, much to her pleasure in being allowed to stay in touch with her peers. Throughout her nursing career, Nancy was fiercely loyal to the hospitals where she worked, her fellow health care workers, and her patients, in addition to the requirements which she felt were necessary to attain her expectations of job fulfillment. She was married on June 20, 1959, to Richard Brown, who survives her. Nancy is also survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and MaryBeth Brown, and their three children, Hunter, Ian, and Grace, all of Glen Ellyn, Ill.; her brothers and their wives, James and Marianne Cone of Volcun, Panama, and Neil and Diane Cone of Venice, Fla.; her cousins and their husbands, Sally and Murlan Cooper of Dade City, and Jane and Ted Turner of Spring Hill, Fla.; sisters-in-law, Lydia Johnson of Middlebury, and Linda Bedell of White River Junction; brother-in-law and his wife, Robert and Dorothy Brown of Mesa, Ariz.; and numerous aunts, nephews, nieces and cousins. Nancy is also survived by her weekly “lunch buddies” in St. Albans, Kathleen Riley, Pauly Ashton, Cassie Nutter, and Anna Mae Olmstead. She was a past board member of the Franklin County United Way, and after her retirement, delivered Meals On Wheels, in addition to becoming involved in the Red Hat Groups in both St. Albans and Dade City. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in her name to any local Meals On Wheels Programs, the Franklin County United Way, or a charity of one's choice. A service of remembrance will be held Saturday, April 8, at 2 p.m. in the First Congregational Church, Church Street, St. Albans, after which her ashes will be placed in the ocean at Wells, Maine, as per her request.
