Shelburne/Fairfax

James Alfred Brown, 78 of Fairfax passed away Tuesday evening, April 4, 2006 at The Arbors in Shelburne surrounded by family.
He was born in Montreal, Quebec on Feb. 3, 1928, the son of the late Alfred and Ada (Johnson) Brown.

On April 10, 1959, he married Evelyn K. (Read) Blair in Burlington VT. he predeceased him on June 13, 1991.

Jim started his career as a Tool and Die maker in Montreal and later joined IBM in Essex Junction, retiring as an engineer after 25 years of service to the company.

He enjoyed the outdoors, working in his garden and taking care of his wood lot.

Jim is survived by four sons and a daughter and their families, John and Linda Brown and children, Daniel and Kaytee and her husband Dennis Petross, all of Oregon, Jim and Lorraine Brown and their family, Heather, Lee, Eric and his partner Amy Buettner, all of Bozeman, Montana, and Andre` and his partner Nicole Lewey of Bennett, Colorado, Neal and Dawn Brown and their children, Andrew and Kelly of Fairfax, and Michael Brown and his partner Barbara Wallace of Cambridge, Lynn Savage and her husband Brian of Swanton and their family, Sean and his friend Julia Naiman, Geoffrey, and Victoria. Jim will miss seeing his two young great grand-children, Emily and Sean Michael, grow up.

He leaves also his brother, Leonard Brown and his wife, Beverly of South Burlington, his sister Norma of Florida and his nieces, Joanne and Mary Elizabeth.  He was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Irene.

At the request of the family, there will be no visiting hours and funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family with interment following in the Stafford Cemetery on the Buck Hollow Road in Fairfax.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to the Fairfax Fire Department or the Fairfax Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 428, Fairfax, VT  05454

Arrangements are by the Minor Funeral Home

In the late 50s and early 60s, Jim Brown completely restored this huge house at 1193 Main Street  -- He was very meticulous in everything he did and did a remarkable job.
