Thank God I didn't get rid of everything.  Will have to watch and see what this will do for our Hazardous Waste Day here in Fairfax.

The Vermont House has passed a bill that would make it free for people to recycle their electronic waste.

If approved, the bill would set up several drop off sites in every county where people could drop their old TV's, printers and computers for free. Right now, it can cost as much as $25 to recycle a TV at one of the many drop off sites in the state.

Supporters say the end goal is to keep as many electronics out of the landfills as possible. Paul Burnes, the Executive Director of VPIRG says, "A lot of times those materials are crushed and the chemicals in them, whether its lead, cadmium, or other toxins, can leech down into waterways in the state and that causes very serious problems down the road."

The bill now moves to the Senate.

Cleaning out the server room I got rid of 11 computers.
The recycle vendor charged 35 cents a pound. Pretty good deal.
The heaviest OLD cpu was 26 freaking pounds.  I ripped the HDD out though.
