There is some question as to whether the 61 year old man faked the gas pedal stuck problem.  The policeman had asked him to turn off the ignition, but he didn't.  He had apparently been in to the dealer and asked them to fix the problem and they told him his car was not on the recall list.  There is a YouTube video on the following link that tells the whole story.  Toyota has been unable to reproduce the situation on that car.
