South Hero Crash Kills 1

I have checked some of the funeral homes, but so far not sure which one this person might show up at - Weekends, the news except for sports is skimpy, so may not find out until Monday who was killed in the crash.

A passenger in a car that crashed into a utility pole in South Hero was pronounced dead, Vermont State Police said.

A Nissan traveling on West Shore Road veered off the highway Saturday morning and struck the pole. The female driver sustained cuts and bruises to the face and head, a broken arm and internal injuries.

The male passenger, whose name was not immediately released, was pronounced dead at a hospital. The crash remains under investigation.

SUMMARY OF CRASH:

This one vehicle accident occurred at 418 West Shore Rd in the town of South Hero VT. The vehicle was north bound on the West Shore RD and traveled off the east side of the highway colliding with a utility pole head on.

The vehicle was then forced directly backwards in a southerly direction approx 30 ft. before coming to rest in the ditch area off the east side of the highway, facing northerly.

Upon arrival of the first person on scene, the male occupant was laying on the ground, passengers side of the vehicle and the female occupant, who was identified as Lisa Garland,  was stand outside the vehicle.

The male subject was later pronounced at the hospital, his name is being with held, pending notification of next of kin.

South Hero Fire and Rescue were on scene, along with Grand Isle Rescue.

Thanks Judi - In checking the obituary, it is apparently Gerald Brisson.  Our weekend news reports are not great on follow-up.  I always have an interest in the deaths in the Islands as I have a number of people I know up in that area.  In reading the obituary, I discovered that I went to High School my Freshman year in Alburg with Gerald's father Leonard.

We used to have a music teacher at BFA with that same last name.  I can't think of his first name, but I think he was from Milton.  We had our music class in the basement, near the bomb shelter, under/near the old gym.

The music teacher's name was Armand Brisson and he did reside in Milton. His instruction era at BFA was between Mrs. Hubbert and Julie Craig, and I believe that Julie was followed by Pam Gude, but I'm not sure who is teaching Vocal Music now. There are many Brissons in the northwest portion of Vermont, of course, and I'm not sure that Armand was related to the person who was killed over in South Hero.

Thanks for being a great principal and for straightening me out in second grade, when I needed it!  I don't think I ever got in trouble again after that...or maybe I just didn't get caught!  I think I did learn a lesson though.  Scared straight in second grade!  There are other reasons I think you were a great principal, but that 2nd grade incident left the biggest impression on me....

I had my first detention two weeks before I graduated high school, and I deserved it.  (Sorry for all the talking in your class, Dave Clark!)
