Nearly every party involved in the proposed St. Albans Walmart court case have filed a notice of appeal with the Vermont Supreme Court.

The notices, filed by Vermont Natural Resources Council (VNRC), R. L. Vallee and Highgate Commons are not actual appeals, simply a statement that they intend to appeal.

JLD Properties, the prime developer of the store, has filed a notice of cross appeal.

No appeals can be made to the Vermont Supreme Court until Environmental Court Judge Thomas Durkin rules on a motion to amend his ruling. That motion was filed by VNRC on behalf of VNRC and local farmers Marie Frey and Richard Hudak, neighbors of the proposed Walmart.

One thing no one has ever asked in all these years is why is this guy such a hanger-on?

It's like watching the Gladiators; it's a fight to the death. I totally get the local angle, but I'm perplexed by WM digging in for so long--surely there are other fertile lands elsewhere anxiously waiting for WM to come along and dig it up--without all the legal wrangling & expense??

What will this do to the low prices?

If the world gives you melons, you might be dyslexic
