Good Morning Henry,

We had guests for breakfast this morning,

Steve

And my question to you Steve & Pauline, "What's for dinner Sunday?"

Steve tells me that a car went by and spooked the turkeys and they all took off and flew over the road into Claude Rainville's meadow.  Steve said he had never seen a flock of wild turkeys flying and to be honest with you neither have I.  Too bad that Steve didn't have his camera ready when they did that as that must have been a sight to see.

I understand that turkeys don't really fly that much as in years past they used to drive them to market and I have seen them up here in my back meadown walking and later go down towards Fairfax Village and they are still walking down near the village.

wild turkeys fly - but they need a lot of distance (runway) to get aloft.  if you are ever driving and a turkey takes off you feel like they're major slow motion and you're warp speed!  it's actually frightening if they are flying toward you/the road.

They also roost in the tops of trees at night which I didn't know until I saw it with my own eyes. It's really spooky when you walk beneath a flock of those big things perched on tiny little branches.
