Georgia, Vermont Man Fails To Show Up For Prison

As police continue to search for a Georgia man who is supposed to be in prison for assaulting his weeks-old son, the fugitive’s mother is urging him to surrender.

    Matthew Richard’s mother, Diane, of Isle La Motte, said she does not know where her 26-year-old son is, but that she heard he and his wife, Cristy, are staying in a tent in a wooded area.

    The child, said Richard, appears to have survived the ordeal and is progressing normally.

    Diane said Matthew’s father has heard from him since he failed to report to prison on April 26 for throwing his son down on a coffee table last year.

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:   At 1807 hours State Police in Middlesex responded to 5633 East Warren Rd. to take a burglary complaint. The complainant advised he caught a J.S. building a camp in the woods. The complainant stated that there were materials taken from his own camp inside J.S.’s camp. The camp in question was off of Plunkton Rd in Warren. In speaking with J.S. he admitted that he entered into the complainant’s trailer and took several items. Sallerson was lodged at Chittenden County Correctional Facility on $5,000 Bail. He has a court appearance set for 05/10/2010 at 12:30 PM in Washington County District Court.
