The Date in Fairfax History- June 11, 1973

About 8:30pm on Monday June 11, 1973, it started raining. It started pouring, the wind howled, and suddenly, it was over.
People went out of their houses, most of which had lost electicity, and stated surveying the damage.
A tornado touched down in Fairfax.
Trees were uprooted. Roofs blown off houses. The barn at the Hillcrest Poultry Farm had collapsed.
The clean-up began. The sound of chainsaws filled the air as everyone headed out and cleared trees out of blocked roads. The next day, half the town showed up to help rescue and remove trapped chickens from the barn.
