IVY B. (WEBB) OVITT FAIRFAX — Ivy Bertha (Webb) Ovitt, 85, passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, June 22, 2006. She was born in Harbourne, England, on Aug. 7, 1920, daughter of the late Samuel and Bertha (Brookes) Webb. Ivy married Orman Ovitt on Nov. 3, 1940, in Fairfax. She built her life with Orman in Fairfax and spent 65 wonderful years caring for her beloved family, and celebrating their 65th wedding anniversary Nov. 3, 2005. They loved getting together on Friday nights with Art and Margaret Webb, sharing dinner and laughter in the Country Pantry followed by a good game of Uno. They enjoyed playing Bongo with good friends Fred and Marion Schibi, and never missed a good game of “500.“ She loved collecting and sharing beautiful things. Ivy was an excellent seamstress and quilter as a member of the FairfaxGeorgia quilters. One year Ivy compassionately made a pillow quilt for every family member. She was a dedicated member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Ladies of the United Church of Fairfax and Fairfax Senior Citizens. Grandma always looked forward to the family gathering at their home for Sunday dinners and special occasions. Ivy had an unconditional love for everyone and will be greatly missed by all of those who loved her. She is survived by her husband, Orman Ovitt of Fairfax; her two sons, Robert Ovitt Sr. of Fairfax, and former daughter-in-law Gloria Ovitt Ledoux, Richard Ovitt and his wife, Marcia, of Essex Junction; three daughters, Barbara Sargent and her husband, Thomas, of Georgia, Beverly Danyow and her husband, David Sr., of St. Albans Bay, JoAnne Godin and her husband, James, of Jeffersonville; one brother J. Douglas Webb of Fairfax; one sister, Frena Phillips and her husband, William, of Westford; four sisters-in-law, Barbara MacKay, Marion Webb, Arlene Brown, Alice Marcotte; 14 grandchildren, Samuel Ovitt, Carol Jordan, Robert Ovitt Jr., Joan Sweet, Deborah Woodward, Melissa Minor, David Danyow Jr., Christopher Danyow, Heather Godin, Cheryl LaClair, Marie Godin, Eric Ovitt, Seth Ovitt, Michelle Ovitt; 16 greatgrandchildren, Kyle, Kody, Kole, Kaitlin, Jessica, Joshua, Brittany, Danielle, Jacob, Jarrett, Julia, Mary Grace, Jordan, Loudon, Genevieve and Bradly. She was also predeceased by her daughter, Sandra Jean; brother S. William Webb; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Charles and Dorothea Wright, William Brown, John MacKay, Derrell Ovitt and Nellie Webb. Visiting hours will be held Sunday, June 25, from 2 to 4 and from 7 to 9 p.m. in the A. W. Rich Funeral Home - Fairfax Chapel. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 26, at 10:30 a.m. in the United Church of Fairfax, with the Rev. Elizabeth Griffin officiating. Burial will follow in the family lot in Fairfax Plains Cemetery.
