Thousands of Canadians packed up and moved Thursday.  For more than three decades, Quebec has made July 1 the official day when most leases end/start.

Back in the old days when farmers ran farms on halves, or decided to sell their farms, the moving day or sale day was November 1st.  Strangely enough when we bought our farm on Fairfield Ridge, it was November 1st and when we sold it, it was also November 1st.

Not sure what the reason was for selecting that date, but seemed to be a very popular date, at least for farms.
