Three days in a row with temperatures reaching 90 or above and we call it an official heat wave! Some cities and towns in this area will likely meet that criteria this week.
The last heat wave in Burlington was in June of 2003.
Take it easy, drink lots of fluids, check on the elderly and keep pets safe and cool at home with plenty of fresh water. Don't leave dogs or children in the car for even a few minutes, heat builds in vehicles very quickly often resulting in illness and even death.
Today, it will be hazy, hot and humid with afternoon highs reaching the upper 80s and low 90s.
Tonight, it will be a bit muggy, with lows in the upper 60s and low 70s.
Tuesday, more hazy, hot and humid weather with a chance of showers and thunderstorms.
The heat will back off towards the end of this week, and over the upcoming weekend.
