The heat wave is now 4 days and counting.  Some locations could again hit the 90-degree mark today, making it a 5-day heat wave.

But some changes are coming.  A slow-moving cold front will start making its way into northern NY by late this afternoon and evening.  This cold front has a lot of juice with it, and because it is moving so slowly, it could produce some locally heavy downpours over the next few days - as much as 1" to 3" of rain in some spots.

The front will finally clear the area by Sunday afternoon.  There will be a little bit of relief from the heat & humidity, but it will only last a short time before more hot, humid weather starts moving back in for next week, although it won't be as hot & humid as it was this week.

Remember to stay well hydrated in this kind of weather.  Drink plenty of fluids, wear lightweight clothing, and save any vigorous activities for early in the morning or after sunset.  Make sure your pets are kept as cool as possible and make sure they have plenty of water.
