11/12 Softball team is Coached by Stephanie Babcock & Travis Mathieu
Players are:
Kayla Mathieu, Kayla Nester, Kaitlyn Barnack, Elizabeth Towsley, Sarah Rainville, Kailyn Hackbart, Gianna Trono, Brooke Wheel, Mara Ormerod, Hannah Corrigan, and Victoria Brown
 
Game 1 highlights againist St. Albans .... Fairfax wins 11-1
Top of the first:  Mara Ormerod made her all-star debut.  Unfortunately, Ormerod struck out with a smile.  Led by double by Nester, SAC by Barnack to score Nester, Mathieu's single followed by Rainville's triple scoring Mathieu.  Rainville scored on a pass ball.  Wheel singled with Towsley being walked...Hackbart ended the inning with a hit back to the pitcher (Maria Machia) who put her out at first.
Bottom of the first: Kayla Mathieu struck out the side
Fairfax 3-0
 
Top of the seond: began with Gianna Trono's pop up to first baseman (Jordan Tannberger).  Next batter Hannah Corrigan with a 1-2 count and fouling off 4 balls made first base when she was hit by pitch, scored on pass ball.  Nester followed with a single and also scored on a pass ball, Barnack was walked but batted in by with Mathieu's double.  Rainville popped with to second baseman (Michelle Abentroth), Wheel hit yet another single & inning ended with Towsley hitting to Machia who put her out at first.
Bottom of the second: walked the first batter (Dubuque), struck out the next, walked the next 2 batters, Dubuque was called out for leaving base early & Mathieu struck out (Hemond) to end the inning.
Fairfax 7-0
 
Topf of the third: began with Hackbart's single who scored on an error.  Gianna Trono doubled, followed by Corrigan reaching first on a drop third strike.  Nester struck out for the first out.  Barnack singled with Corrigan being put out at second.  Mathieu hit a triple bringing in Barnack yet again and then scored on a pass ball.  Rainville then singled and on a steal to second was put out on a throw down by Hannah Gaudette (St. A catcher)
Bottom of the third:  Struck out the first batter, Teagae batter directly to Kaitlyn Barnack at first for the second out, walked the next batter (Ellen Allerton), the next batter (Carly Lumbra) ROE which also scored Allerton, and Mathieu struck out the next batter to end the inning.
Fairfax 11-1
 
Top of the fourth: With a  pitching change by St. Albans....Brooke Wheel was hit by pitch, Towsley singled bringing up Hackbart who popped up to short stop (Carly Lumbra) who put out Wheel at second with a throw to second baseman (Cayla Crumb) for the double play.  With Trono up with 2 outs and aggressive base running....Towsley made a break for third but was caught stealing by the catcher at third.
Bottom of the fourth: Kayla Mathieu struck out the side.
Fairfax 11-1
 
Kayla Mathieu faced 16 batters, struck out 10, walked 4, and allowed only one hit. 
Despite the hot/humid weather both teams faced...the girls stuck it out, supported and took care of each other.
 
Fairfax will meet Milton Friday night 6pm in Swanton for game 2.

Well the 11-12 team is doing great!
Despite the humidity they are winning and not passing out.
Friday nights win over Milton was 18-0 in 4 innings.
Kayla Mathieu pitched a no hitter.
 
1st inning
lead off single by Kayla Nester who score on a pass ball
walk to Kaitlyn Barnack who scored on an error
Hannah Corrigan popped up to second
Kayla Mathieu followed with a single and scored on a pass ball
Sarah Rainville walked and scored on pass ball
Brooke Wheel walked and was batted in on Elizabeth Towsley single
Kailyn Hackbart's single scored Elizabeth Towsley
Victoria Brown was hit by pitch bringing up the top of the order....
Kayla Nester took a strike out
Kaitlyn Barnack was out with pitcher to first base throw.
 
bottom of first:
Mathieu struck out the side
Score: Fairfax 6-0
 
top of second:
Mara Ormerod walked and was batted in with Kayla Mathieu's single
Mathieu scored on a pass ball
Sarah Rainville waked and scored on a pass ball
Brooke Wheel hit to short and was thrown out at first
Elizabeth Towsley singled
Kailyn Hackbart reached on error
Gianna Trono hit into a second to first but scored Towsley
Nester popped up to first base
 
bottom of second:
Mathieu struck out batter 1, walked batter 2, and proceeded to strike out the next 2 batters
Score: Fairfax 10-0
 
top of third:
Barnack was hit by pitch scored on pass ball
Corrigan hit by pitch
Mathieu walked
Rainville's single scored Corrigan
Mathieu scored on pass ball
Rainville attempted a pass ball steal at home to be put out by catcher to pitcher at plate
Brooke Wheel was hit by pitch
Towsley popped up to left field
Kailyn Hackbart's hit to third and put out at first
 
Bottom of third:
Mathieu struck out the first batter and second batter hit a foul tip back into the catcher Kayla Nester causing an injury time out.
Tough catcher who dug deep...finished out the inning with pitcher, Kayla Mathieu, striking out the remainig batters.
Score:
Score: Fairfax 13-0
 
Top of fourth:
Victoria Brown was walked and scored on fielding error
Nester walked and score on pass ball
Barnack was once again hit by pitch and was put out in a pickle between third and home.
Mathieu singled and was hit in on Rainville's single who then scored on pass ball
Brooke Wheel popped up to short
Elizabeth Towsley was put out at first by the pitcher.
 
bottom of fourth:
Mathieu stuck out first batter, walked the second batter, batter 3 was struck out....during the final at bat for Milton with a 2ball 1 strike count the walked batter attempted to steal home but was put out with a Nester to Mathieu play at home on a pass ball.
Score Fairfax 18-0
 
Fairfax advances to Monday's game vs Essex.  Essex & Fairfax are the 2 undefeated teams at this point.
IN the Loser bracket remains Milton & St. Albans who on Saturday won their games:
Milton beat Northwest 7-4
St. Albans beat Missisquoi 11-1
Milton & St. Albans play Tuesday night....the winner to take on the Loser of the Fairfax v Essex game.

Monday July 12th Fairfax 6 Essex 0
 
Top of first:
Kayla Mathiue struck out the side
Bottom of first:
Lead off Single by Kayla Nester followed by a stolen base and scoring on a pass ball
Kaitlyn Barnack's singled and followed with her own stolen base
Mara Ormerod reached first safely on a drop third strike setting up a first & third situation
with Kayla Mathieu at the plate who belted a triple into right field scoring Barnack & Ormerod.
Sarah Rainville hit to the pitcher Allie Rutz who tried to hold Mathieu at third could not capitalize on the hold and Mathieu broke for home on Rutz's throw to put out Rainville at first.
Brooke Wheel singled and stole second.
Elizabeth Towsley popped to the pitcher, Rutz
Kailyn Hackbart's hit to short stop could not beat the throw to first....leaving Wheel on third.
 
Score: Fairfax 4 Essex 0
 
Top of second:
Mathieu once again shined striking out the first batter, walking the second.
Kayla Nester attempted a throw down to second that went beyond the mark.
With runner now on third Kayla Mathieu dug in and proceeded to strike out the remaining 2 batters (6 pitches!!!!)
Bottom of second:
Gianna Trono battled at the plate ending with a strike.
Kayla Nester once again singled bringing up Kaitlyn Barnack who hit a line drive that the Essex Pitcher, Rutz, caught and Nester slipped on way back to first being caught in double play to end the inning.
 
Score Fairfax 4 Essex 0
 
Top of third:
First batter walked
Next batter strike out
Kylie Svarkopf was walked with a full count
Brianne was hit by pitch and took her base
With bases now loaded Mathieu again dug in and struck out Meghan Campo
Victoria Bean's Infield pop up was caught by Kaitlyn Barnack to end the inning with bases loaded.
Bottom of third:
Started with Hannah Corrigan's single, followed by Mathieu's single
Rainville hit to pitcher who threw to first
Brooke Wheel was forced out at first but not before scoring Mathieu
Towsley was walked and stole her way around to third.
Hackbart strike out left Towsley at third.
 
Score Faifax 6 Essex 0
 
Top of fourth:
Lead off hitter attempted a bunt which popped up short and Kaitlyn Barnack crashed in catching it
Next batter took a strike out
Batter 3 walked and Essex attempted a pinch runner.
With Rutz up to bat and a 2-2 count Kayla Mathieu struck her out leaving the pinch runner at third.
Bottom of fourth:
Victoria Brown battled at the plate to a full count ending in a strike.
Nester again singled
Barnack was put out at first with a throw from 3rd but moving Nester around the bases
Corrigan up to bat grounded to third base and was put out at second.

Top of fifth:
Batter one took a walk
Kylie Svarkophf reached on error
Mathieu again dug in and struck out next batter,
Meghan Campo grounded out to Mathieu who put her out at first on a throw to Barnack
Victoria Bean grounded to Rainville at short who put her out at first on a throw to Barnack
2 runners left on base
Bottom of fifth:
Mathieu & Rainville both grounded out to third.
Brooke Wheel struck out.
 
Score Fairfax 6 Essex 0
 
Top of sixth:
First batter walked and stole second.  Nester attempted a throw to second which slipped threw and moved the runner to third.
The second batter grounded to Mathieu who held the runner at third, threw to Barnack at first for the out.  On the throw to first the runner broke for home.  Barnack with no hesitation upon the catch threw to Nester who applied the tag at home for the double play.
The final batter battled to a full count ending with Mathieu striking her out.

In the loser bracket Tuesday night is Milton vs St. Albans.  The winner will advance to play Essex Wednesday night.  The winner of Wednesday's game advances to the Championship game vs Fairfax.
