Phish-y e-mail

I got an e-mail tonight (Monday) from Fairpoint, talking about doing maintenence on their web mail, and service may be interrupted. To avoid problems, they want you to reply and confirm name, e-mail, and password.
Hmmmm..........
Called Fairpoint.
Bogus. A phishing scheme.

It comes across as "Technical Team", and the e-mail address is "notice @ myfairpoint.net". Subject heading is 'Upgrade Your Account".
Delete it.

Thank you for posting the warning. We received the same email from our internet provider - surfglobal - referencing an upgrade and requesting confirmation of email & password.  Hmmm....

I tried to forward mine to:
abuse@myfairpoint.net
and
fraud@myfairpoint.net
but neither were active............

I didn't go to their site to find the right address.

From my experience they have pretty terrible customer service.

No service should EVER ask for your password. If they do...it's most likely fraudulent.

Scott is correct.  Never supply personal information, passwords, banking info, social security #, etc... Upgrades to their equipment never require your information.
