"NEW" PICTURES OE FAIRFAX FALLS AFTER THE 1927 FLOOD

Back in 2004, i received some pictures from Barb Norton that had belonged to her mother, Melba Perry. I obviously looked at them and put them in a drawer at the museum. This past Sunday I was going through things, when I found the pictures. Looking more carefully at them, I found treasure.

Writing on the back of the picture says, "This is the Falls hill looking toward our house after the water receded. The hill is washed from 6 to 12 feet deep."
Of real interest to me is the building below. If you go down to the base of the falls, you see a cement slab. Could never figure out what it was. Now I see a building. Not sure what the building was, but somehow, it survived the water coming over the falls.

"This is where the Falls Bridge was." Notice the buildings along the river. This is where the mills were located. Again, with all the water coming down through, the buildings survived. I wonder where the water level was on the buildings.

"This is at the Falls where that building stood front of McGetric's/MeGetrie's(?) house with the cement walk around it."

This is what I love about Fairfax History. I keep learning new things.
