Keith "Sam" Sylvester
(April 18, 1936 - July 30, 2010)


 WEST ENOSBURG – Keith M. “Sam” Sylvester, age 74, passed away peacefully, Friday morning, July 30, 2010 with his wife Maxine and his favorite “girls” Maddie, Mitzie & Mocha at his side.
He was born April 18, 1936 in Montgomery the son of the late, George & Doris (Rushford) Sylvester.

Keith was raised in Montgomery and attended Enosburg Falls High School. He entered the U.S. Army in 1953 during the Korean War receiving an honorable discharge in 1956. He then went to work for New England Selective Breeding in Woodbridge, CT and Eastern Breeders. He moved back to Vermont where he owned and operated a farm in Georgia and also owned and operated the Georgia General Store which he sold in 1978. He then became a truck driver for several area trucking companies including R.L. Vallee from which he retired in 2000. Keith was a true truck driver loving every minute he drove. He was an avid NASCAR fan with his favorite driver being Jeff Gordon. Keith loved to spend time in his garage with his sons helping them work on their vehicles.

He is survived by his wife, Maxine (Robtoy) Sylvester of West Enosburg. Keith and Maxine were married January 1, 1997. He is also survived by his children and their spouses, Mike & Diana Sylvester of East Fairfield, Cheryl Sylvester of Fairfax, Gary & Angela Sylvester of St. Albans, and Keith K. Sylvester of Swanton; his step-children and their spouses, Jesse & Krystal Bosley of Grove City, OH, Stephanie & Josh Fischer of Fairbanks, AK, and Ellen & Landon Stebbins of Sheldon; his grandchildren, Christopher Sylvester, Kevin Sylvester Raychel Sylvester, Lynsey Sylvester, Jason Marsha and a very special granddaughter who considered Keith “Dad”, Ashley Fournier and her husband Joe; a special great granddaughter, Madeleine Fournier; step grandchildren, Mia & Noah Bosley; His sister, Charlene Plouff of Enosburg Falls; his brothers and their wives, Larry & Jeannean Sylvester of Enosburg Falls, and Ronald & Jeannette Sylvester of Montgomery Center; a sister-in-law, Beverly Sylvester of Franklin; several nieces and nephews; his father-in-law & mother-in-law, Wayne & Joan Robtoy of West Enosburg; several brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law. Besides his parents, Keith was predeceased by his brothers, Wilbur Max Sylvester and Wayne G. Sylvester Sr.; a special aunt and her husband, Hazel & Joe Clokey and their sons, Roger & Douglas Clokey

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls. Interment will follow in the West Enosburg Cemetery.

Visiting hours will be held Tuesday from 6-8 PM at the Spears Funeral Home in Enosburg Falls.

You will note in the obituary that Larry & Jeannine Sylvester, former owners of Nan's Mobil are mentioned as also is Roger Clokey, deceased husband of Alberta.
