Hi All,

Senators Illuzzi and Collins have scheduled a meeting at Bellows Free Academy, Fairfax on Monday, September 13, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. in the elementary gymnasium to hear recommendations and concerns about the proposed Chittenden Regional Technical Academy and its potential adverse impact on Bellows Free Academy and the Northwest Technical Center. The public is invited and encouraged to attend this very important discussion about the proposed Academy. This is one of few opportunities for the communities in Franklin County to be heard so please mark your calendar!!

I received a request from:
JOHN-PAUL BETTENCOURT
SPECIAL PROJECTS COORDINATOR/EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST
VERMONT EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT

Requesting permission to use the photos on my Photo Gallery of the storm and damage for their training and education programs, as well as their reports to FEMA.  A special thanks to Ron Mapes and Mike Cain for helping me get these photos together.  Just as a special note, these photos according to the statistics I have gathered have been viewed the most of any I have put up.

Fisher Cats In Fairfax????

I received a couple of notes, one from Alice and the other, apparently from someone else who lives in Fairfax, but they only gave me their e-mail address.

Hello:
I have had a cat 15 years who was recently eaten by what neighbors believe was a fisher cat. They said it let out a high-pitched shriek. Do you know what they sound like or know of any sound clips of them on the Internet?

I found no sound for a Fisher Cat, but did e-mail a website I put up on January 5, 2003 regarding a Fisher Cat that Randy Devine found that had been hit by a car near the Sewerage Disposal Plant on Hunt street.

If you are interested, you can go to:

Or if you want to read more about the Fisher Cat, go to:

Alice sent me back the following note:

Another cat  on our road got attacked by something, but got away, but did a lot of damage to it, enough so it had to be put to sleep..by a vet..  So as I feared, something probably got my Rascal.  I want to thank you for adding a lost pet section to your web site.  I think that it definitely could help reunite some of them with there families..And to maybe also warn neighbors in my area to watch their pets closely, because there is definitely something out there.  I don't know if it's coy dogs, fisher cat, fox or what it is.. but it's getting pretty close to peoples houses..what ever it is.. Thanks Henry..
Sincerely,
Alice Hartson

I also received a note from someone who had looked into taking a balloon ride and what it would cost:

Just thought I would satisfy your curiosity about the price of a balloon ride:
My husband and I recently celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary (congratulations on your 44th!!) and thought it would be fun to take a balloon ride, so I checked on prices.  A bit steep, we thought:   $225 per person for a 1-hour ride.  We decided against it!  We ended up going up to Stowe and riding the gondola.  The view probably wasn't the same, but the price was a lot more reasonable!

Needless to say, don’t look for any aerial photos of Fairfax in my Photo Gallery.  I had no idea it cost that much, although I do believe you get some wine and cheese with the ride.

Several days ago, I put up Irene Warner’s obituary and it was brought to my attention that Steve Warner, her oldest, was director of liturgical music at St. Michael's College in the 1970s, then he went off to do it at Notre Dame University in Indiana.  If I remember right, he was a very talented young man.

Thanks so much for all the little notes, tidbits and corrections sent to me.
Have a great day,
Henry
