The state has dropped charges against a Westford man charged with illegally burying his grandmother after his mother allegedly killed her.
Police say 59-year-old Jeanne Sevigny killed her mother, 78-year-old Mary Wilcox, at their house in November of 2006. She allegedly burned her body and had her son, 30-year-old Greg Sevigny, bury Wilcox in a suitcase in a wooded area behind the Westford Elementary School. Despite his help, multiple searches have turned up no sign of the body.
On Monday a judge ruled the three-year time limit for filing the misdemeanor charge of burying a person without a burial-transit permit against Greg Sevigny had expired and dismissed it. The reason for this is that Jeanne Sevigny initially told police her mother went missing and the alleged homicide wasn't reported until 2009.
