Fairfax Selectboard Minutes of 12/15/08

Selectboard Members present: Judy Cleary, Bill Ormerod, Charlie Swanson, Randy DeVine and Bob Horr.

1. Call to Order:

Judy Cleary, Chairperson, called the meeting to order at 6:35 P.M.

2. Minutes:

Bill Ormerod made the motion to accept the minutes of December 1, 2008. Charlie Swanson seconded the motion. Motion was carried.

Bill Ormerod made the motion to accept the minutes of December 8,2008. Bob Horr seconded the motion. Motion was carried with one abstaining.

3. Executive Session:

Bill Ormerod made the motion to enter executive session for the purpose of Conducting employee evaluations. Charlie Swanson seconded the motion.

Bill made the motion to come out of executive session at 9:15 P.M. Charlie seconded the motion.

Other Business:

Judy reported that she had heard from Jeff Ferris regarding the SWIP approval. Jeff indicated that the Town needs to comply with four items before we can receive final approval. Jeff indicated that he would send these items to us.

The Board approved and signed the audit proposal from A.M. Peisch not to exceed $15,000.00. Bill informed the firm that the town had budgeted $13,600 for the audit.

The Board will interview the candidates for the Administrative Assistant position on January 5, 2009.

The Board signed the resolution of the Fairfax Mitigation Plan for the Northwest Regional Planning Commission.

Bill Ormerod provided the necessary information for the formation of a Neighborhood Watch to Jen Shapiro, President of the Valley View Homeowners Association.

Charlie Swanson reported on Bridge 10 Route 104 over Mill Brook. It is possible that construction on this bridge will take place in the summer of 2009. Detours have been established by VTRANS.

Bill Ormerod will respond to a letter received from Charlie Hancock of North Woods Forestry regarding access to the Riehle property.

There will be a meeting regarding the Safe Routes to School on Wednesday, December 17,2008 at 7:30 at BFA.

Bill shared e-mails from Stitzel, Page & Fletcher pertaining to various legal issues.

Charlie made a motion to approve the easements for Fairfax Investments LLC as written by Stitzel, Page and Fletcher. Bob Horr seconded the motion. Motion was carried.

Randy DeVine went over his reports for the Water and Sewer departments. He also reported on trying to get Paul Langelier enrolled in Advanced Operator Classes but at this time none are available in this area.
