SPRING HAS SPRUNG

Melting snow tried to find its way through frozen culverts as shown above on the Wilkins Road here in Fairfax

Don Pigeon, Fairfax Road Crew Foreman works his way through one of the many frozen culverts, as reports come in notifying him of many others throughout the town.

I was looking for a sugar house hoping to get a picture of sugar makers gathering sap and steaming sugar houses. Most sugar makers in the area only started tapping last Saturday and the Wilkins Farm said they might be boiling tomorrow. Because of our lack of snow up here in northern Vermont and the extremely cold weather, Don told me the frost is in the ground about five feet deep. I'm assuming, although he didn't say, he is expecting some rough roads this spring.
